Welcome to the Obsidian Circus World
Obsidian Circus (OC) is an art world and creative ecosystem for queer African artists and creatives. The World platforms the work of African artists and creatives who use art to interrogate identity and its intersections, and as a necessary tool for decolonial work.
Our Story, The World
The OC World was created by the fictional character Sidian, a multidisciplinary Creator, who, alongside three other creative entities – Bahari, Malkia, and SBB – nurture this unique ecosystem. These entities serve as personas, creative guides, and pockets of ancestral wisdom, each representing distinct artistic motifs and lenses. OC also extends to Friends of Sidian (FOS), a portal and ever-expanding universe platforming the work of African artists and creatives.
What's coming?
World Building enables the leveraging of art as a medium to nurture Self, and challenge, dismantle and sever colonial ties. Creative work is a journey to cultural rebirth and harvesting new identities.
Friends of Sidian is this practice realised. It’s a space for African artists and creatives to build their own creative worlds, portals, portfolios and tools. Obsidian Circus offers a member community for artists and creatives to:
